Patients Talk
Interview with Peter 6/11/08
1. Describe your condition and symptoms prior to treatment.
My teeth were fractured, discolored, and felt stubby. I had constant pain on my front teeth for many years. I was aware that I had a crocked smile and that my teeth were crowded.
2. When did you first start experiencing your symptoms?
I have experienced the symptoms for many years and even had to have one of my teeth removed. I felt like there was large amount of pressure on my lower teeth.
3. Did you seek other treatment for this condition before coming to our office?
Another dentist did a crown just before I came to Dr. Adler but it didn’t feel good. Over the years I had several crowns done at various offices but had problems with them breaking.
4. Why did you choose our office?
The internet – the web site was very comprehensive
5. Had you ever heard of neuromuscular dentistry prior to your consult with Dr. Adler?
No
6. What type of procedure was done?
I had full mouth reconstruction in conjunction with neuromuscular dentistry. I like to call it “The Lexis.”
7. Was the treatment explained to you in a comprehensive manner?
Yes, it was highly comprehensive and was explained in detail and with confidence.
8. How was your overall experience?
Excellent, there were moments of discomfort but I felt very confident throughout the entire procedure and always felt it would work.
9. Are you pleased with your results?
Absolutely, I am thrilled with the results!
10. What are some of the benefits you have had after the procedure was completed?
My smile is balanced and my teeth look good. My jaw is very comfortable. I have even had some people comment on my smile. I am more confident, my posture is better and my face looks very different. I used to have atrophy on one side of my face that made me look older. Since I have had treatment my face is younger looking. I have been biting my nails and cuticles all my life. Once I began treatment, I stopped biting my nails completely. I think that I had been using my fingers like the orthotic to keep my jaw in a comfortable position. Now that my jaw is comfortable I don’t feel the need to bite my nails any longer and since my bite has changed it is not as easy for me to bite them as well.
11. What did you like best?
I liked the attitude of the dentist best. He carefully explained everything to me in great detail and with confidence. The whole office was very supportive and had a good tone.
12. How could we improve our services?
The chair that was used for tensing was very uncomfortable at the time but I see that you have already fixed that problem by replacing it with the very comfortable gravity chair.
13. What did you think of Dr. Adler’s team?
Wonderful! They had a good sense of humor and were very caring.
14. Would you refer friends, family, and acquaintances to Dr. Adler?
Yes, I have referred people several times already.
15. Are there any additional comments that you would like to add?
a. I had sticker shock at the beginning. It took time to think this through but I decided that it was very important and was definitely worth the value. I had spent a lot of money on crowns in the past that didn’t fix the problem. I decided that it was worth the money to get it fixed right the first time. Neuromuscular dentistry fixed the problem instead of just treating the symptoms. |
